Cancer Support France has chosen a beautiful region for this year’s Activity for Life event. The Medoc is situated to the northwest of Bordeaux and stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Gironde estuary in the east.
Cyclists and walkers will be partaking of events each day from 11 – 15 September and this year for the first time we are adding a new event, the Longe-Côte, aquatic walking, which will take place on Saturday 14th September in the Lac d’Hourtin et Carcans.
The beauty of aqua walking is that the water carries the body weight which makes it pleasant and low impact while bringing a variety of benefits such as improved cardio, a full body workout, stress release and exposure to all of the beneficial trace elements that being in the water brings. There are no physical prerequisites for people to come along for a trial, however, if anybody has a health issue, we would ask that they inform the team. It is worthwhile to note that you do not need to be a confident swimmer to join in the fun!
An introductory session is being kindly offered by the Association Rand’eau Cap Ferret. This information is kindly supplied by one of the instructors.
Our daily cycle rides take us to visit some of the most beautiful areas of the Medoc, from ocean to estuary and around two of the largest lakes; distances vary from 32 to 57km. Walks are mostly shady and most offer shorter options. They last from 45 minutes to 2h 15 minutes and vary from 1.5km to 6.1km.
